We always declare allergens
Labelling of 14 main allergens has been required in all EU countries for unpacked food, or so-called loose food, since the end of 2014.
People with allergies do not need to worry when eating in our canteens. The meal plans and separate notices provide students and all other guests with information about allergens. The staff in the canteens and cafeterias will gladly give you with additional information.
Main allergens are eggs, peanuts, fish, gluten, crustaceans, lupines, milk/lactose, edible nuts, sulphur dioxide, celery, mustard, sesame, soy, and molluscs. According to the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture, there are more than two million people with allergies in Germany and many others who suffer from food intolerances.
The Studierendenwerk Vorderpfalz uses as few additives as possible. For instance, flavour enhancers and yeast extracts are deliberately avoided in the canteens.
